A Day at the Beach

  • Pier 11 Pier 11 New York, NY (map)

Enjoy some fresh air and spectacular city views while we ride the ferry to Rockaway Beach. We will then have fun in the sun (or shade) at the beach or, enjoy the iconic Rockaway Beach boardwalk.

Date: Sunday August 4

PLEASE RSVP:     EMAIL

Time: 12:40 pm/ Boat leaves at 1:15 pm, with or without you so, DON’T BE LATE!

The ferry trip should take about 45 minutes so, we really want to catch the 1:15 ferry in order to enjoy some time at the beach

Because there is so much to see and do there, as well as a dependence on the ferry schedule, we should plan on spending at least three (3) hours there plus time for the ferry. All told, it could be at least 4 hours.

Location: The ferry leaves from Pier 11 which is just south of the the far eastern end of Wall Street, just across the FDR Drive. 5 blocks east of the J and Z Wall Street Subway Station, 6 blocks east of 4 and 5 Wall Street Station 5 blocks east of the 2 and 3 Wall Street Station and 8 blocks east of the R Rector Street Station. We recommend that you check the MTA the day of for SERVICE ALERTS for updates on service.

MAP

Rockaway Beach

A vast, sandy beach and 5.5-mile boardwalk draw throngs of families to Rockaway Beach in summer for swimming, sunbathing, and sports like volleyball and skateboarding. Seasonal vendors sell pizza, arepas, and Italian ice, and bars have lively patios. Surfers catch year-round breaks all along the coast. Pastel condos and houses, many rebuilt since 2012’s Hurricane Sandy, line the streets, as do 1960s apartment towers.
