Self-Guided Tour of the East Side Of Central Park

Come explore the nature and rich history of America’s first major landscaped public park, guided by our own lifelong New Yorker and park enthusiast, Steve Katz with additional contributions from members.

Time: 2:00 pm

We will be meeting at 2 PM and departing on our adventure promptly at 2:15 PM

Location:  We will be meeting at Doris C. Freedman Plaza, located at Grand Army Plaza, 5th Avenue and 60th Street, Just 2 blocks north of the N, R, and W 5th Avenue Station, 2 blocks north and 1 block east of the F train 57th Street station and 3 blocks west and 2 blocks north of the 4, 5, 6, N, R, W 59th Street and Lexington Avenue station. Please check the MTA website http://alert.mta.info/ for updates on delays and track work.

 

Please make sure to wear comfortable walking shoes and check the weather forecast to determine appropriate dress. It is also suggested to bring some cash for snacks and souvenirs although, we may go out to eat after.

 

We plan on exploring points of interests like, Gapstow Bridge, passing by the Central Park Zoo, Naumburg Bandshell, Bethesda Fountain, Conservatory Water (Model Sailboat Pond), Alice in Wonderland (Bronze Statue) and much more that we can decideon as we go.

WE STRONGLY SUGGEST ARRIVING ON TIME AND KEEPING TRACK OF OUR GROUP ONCE YOU GET THERE!

 

Once we are in the museum, there will be few opportunities to eat or drink so,  PLEASE MAKE SURE TO EAT AND HYDRATE BEFORE ARRIVING!

 

We are planning on eating after our visit to the museum however, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR BRINGING YOUR OWN MONEY TO BUY FOOD, OR BAG YOUR OWN LUNCH!

 

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR INFORMING US OF ANY HEALTH CONDITIONS THAT MAY BE AN ISSUE DURING THIS TRIP AND FOR BEING AWARE OF YOUR OWN BODIES AND LIMITATIONS.
